5 Things You Are Doing Wrong In Siege

November 3, 2020

And it's not what you think.

Please note these tips are purely opinionated, and are not fact.

Play for the sake of playing.

Don't sweat because your buddies are platinum, or your copper rank is a point of toxicity in casual.

Siege was made as a video game. It, by definition is to be played for fun. Sure. Some people may make a living out of it, such as pro league players, but that becuase they have natural talent and spend countless hours playing the game. The average player, me included, is not meant to be this. Sure you can aspire, and I implore you too, but it shouldn't be all you look for.

Just play for fun. People say that the game gets boring after a while, and they just leave. Siege has a tough learning curve, and its not meant to be tackled all at once. It's all about continous improvement and learning, but to do that, you need to balance ranked and casual. Sure, there are the haters out there with their "omg so trash its a casual clip", but thats just them complaining that they can't get this good. Having fun is the main part of the game, and should be remembered as that.

I myself balance ranked and casual, and I do this by making friendships online, or by having friends squad up with you. Marshmell0wz and I play pretty much all the time, because having an open mic allows for laughs and giggles, and allows for pure content to be made, especially if you are an upcoming streamer.

Casual is a faster way to gain renoun. Pop on a booster, and you receive (approximately) on average 1000 renoun every 40 minutes. This number however changes based on how many wins you get, and how long it takes to win.

Casual also allows for you to play people you dont normally play. I never ever play Nomad or Oryx in ranked because their playstyles simply don't suit me, but I pop on over to casual, and I just try unorthodox tactics.

Change your game up. It makes it so much more fun.

Don't play Jager.

Don't complain. Don't stop reading. This as aforementioned is purely opinion

Jager is just an example. There are others that I could mention but I won't... (Ash).

These people are just overrated. Sure, they are a viable pick, but thats only the common opinion because "They have a good gun.". Siege is not a run and gun. It is however in the latest Halloween Event (Sugar Fright). Siege is a tactical shooter based upon solely communication, teamwork, experience and utility.

That is half of the reason why Ubisoft is (according to popular opinion) "Recycling gadgets.".

Wamai is the recycled Jager. Zofia is the recycled Ash. Kali is the recycled Glaz/Thatcher. Kaid is the recycled Bandit. But why are they doing this?

It's because of operator's balancing, and the pick and ban system. For example if a Jager was banned in a match, then people like Ying and Fuze would have free reign. So Wamai is brought in as a second option. Operator balancing also is a big problem in Siege, for example Jager had an almost 100% pickrate. (He still does unfortunately.) but Wamai is now an option as well, and allows for different positioning for the team.

Overall, playing different operators brings your skill higher, and increases your mindset when versing those operators, as you get a feel for the tactics.

Give up on Toxicity.

You are helping no one with Toxicity. Not even yourself.

Putting it out there, blatant toxicity is absolutely unacceptable. You are a sad sad person if you take out anger on people just trying to enjoy the game. If you feel as if you are better than these people, then teach them to be better. Don't yell at them with microphone abuse, or teamkill them with a single bullet, tell them what they did wrong BUT!

MAKE SURE YOU TELL THEM HOW TO IMPROVE.

There is no use just telling them what they did wrong and just yelling. Be kind, slow and tell them how to fix it. If you improve your teammates, you will improve, and your rank will go up.

Uniforms are Pay to Lose in Siege.

This isn't always the case (I'm looking at you Ember Rise uniforms...) but its the general rule to follow. Skins in siege are meant to be bright and colourful, because you know what.

They are god damn awesome.

I love playing Mozzie. Not because of his guns, his lack of height or his cool accent. I play it because of the Mozzierella skin.

It is by far the best skin, and really annoys the opponents when you get shot by a walking piece of cheese and pepperoni. But it's not a competitive skin. In a tactical shooter that has a problem with relying upon colour differentiation, bright orange and yellow is not the best camo for being oblivious. But thats what makes it so much fun.

Droning.

It speaks for itself. We don't do it enough.

I myself am a big not-user of drones. I rush straight in, and unless I get trapped in a corner with no idea where they could be, I just keep rushing.

This is totally wrong, and Marshmell0wz and I both know we forget this. But we still don't do it. It results in us dying deaths that wouldn't have been possible if we just droned it.

Droning is the best tool you can use. Not just to know where someone is, but to tell the opponent that you know where they are, and that they need to get out of there, thus moving them out of a potentially good position. It also allows for the usage of prefiring, or wall banging, which is something that is a key part of Siege. Proactiveness not reactiveness.

If you have to react, it is already too late.

That's all for now.
