Please note these are purely opinion. There is no fact behind this.
Sledge is an entry fragger operator with very few uses for his Sledge Hammer - bonking things. But at the time of writing, the hammer has 25 hits, and can destroy bulletproof gadgets. However, its the range of uses that it can be utilised, and how much utility it can deny.
For example, any downstairs defence is at threat to an operator that can tear up an entire floor, and then throw grenades down to hit the spaces that arent visible from destroyable floor. His sledge hammer is also a direct counter to operators such as Maestro and Castle.
On top of that, his frag grenades are one of the most versatile non-operator specific gadgets there is. They can destroy walls (if timed perfectly), end careers and ruin battle plans. His guns are also very balanced, with the L85A2 doing moderate damage with a moderate fire rate and moderate recoil, and the M590A1 shotgun being one of the best pump actions on offer. But then we turn to the SMG-11 secondary, which has the fastest fire rate and time to kill in the game, ditching a magazine in only one second. If that's too much recoil for your liking however, the SAS operators come equipped with the P226 which is a high damage dealing secondary, two shotting most operators.
IQ is an information operator who can see most utility offered by the enemy team. For those that aren't bulletproof, she can destroy them through the floor, and for those that are, she can still report them to her teammates.
Her guns include the 552 Commando which is a good all round Assault Rifle, and the Aug A3 which is another good all round AR, but personally, the G8A1 IQ's LMG offers the best choice with faster fire rate and a larger magazine.
Fuze is a backbone of the attacking side, and also a replacement for Thatcher if you know you are attacking a downstairs site. His gadget can remove so much utility if you use it properly, and can even kill or damage enemies that are unlucky enough to not hear the booming sound of imminent death.
I've always liked three armors on attack (except Monty) simply because if you are a defender, who would scare you more? A three armour with a better gun (balancing to compensate for lack of speed) or a three speed who can move quickly, but can't tank a hit? Exactly.
On top of that the AK-12 is currently one of the strongest Assault Rifles in the game, having a shield is always fun, and the LMG is a meme gun.
Zofia is both an entry fragger and an intel op. She has the ability to destroy two gadgets or walls in lightning fast time (as opposed to Ash) with none of the sound. On top of that, she comes equipped with the concussion grenades which can alert her if anyone is in the radius of it, whilst also stunning them.
Her gun is a solid Assault Rifle, and she can pick herself up, which is a very situational ability, but it does pay off every now and then.
I'm going to start off by saying Maverick has no counter except for bullets. He skips Bandit and Kaid entirely, and just destroys the wall. The only downside to Maverick is that he is time consuming, and needs to be played with skill.
With the added addition of the frag grenades, Maverick can open up a small hole and surprise the defenders with an explosive gift.
Why not play Iana? Siege is an intel game, and Iana has essentially infinite drones. I'm going to leave it at that, but the added frags means she can drone you out and then yeet a frag over your cover.
Ying is by far one of the most annoying operators in Rainbow Six Siege. With 5 throwables when you include her smoke grenades, she can turn a site into a strobe disco party with smoke machines and flashing lights.
Added to that, her LMG is closer to an Assault Rifle with 81 bullets, with all sights in the game, and moderate recoil, she is a common choice for me.
Lion is a really good operator, with a modified Vector and a All Seeing Eye. he can enter site in mere seconds and pin defenders down if they don't want to be spotted.
His gun offers 51 bullet mags with high damage output, low recoil and fast fire rate, and is a viable choice in my opinion, if you don't want the 417 DMR or SQB shotgun.
Unpopular opinion: Gridlock is good. She has two very good guns paired with an awesome roam denying ability, and a bullet resistant body.
Her Trax stingers deploy so fast after the update, and make so much noise that it hides her walking sound, to allow her to rotate and be in the perfect position, whilst also making noise when destroyed and therefore alerting the attackers to a roamers presence.
Her F90 and M249 SAW are both very powerful guns, and viable options, depending on whether you are looking for a speedy approach or a brute force denial loadout. Paired with the Super Shorty Secondary, Gridlock can open any unreinforced wall or floor.
Capitao does it all.
Area Denial. Smoke for planting. Hard breach charge. Speed. Great guns.
The fire and smoke from his crossbow are huge utility when used properly, when defending both the plant and the defuse.
The hard breach charge allows him to be an option for taking down a site wall, and his guns and speed allow him to rotate fast with devastating results.
Overall he is the best operator for competitve play in my opinion.
